Veteran and Active Military Support: Family Support

The Navy's Family Readiness programs have been afforded the highest visibility, advocacy and priority. In practical terms, this has resulted in increased services to family members, increased individual assistance and consultation, more varied educational programs, more proactive outreach, and delivery of family support services in locations most conducive to family member engagement.

Careful preparation for a deployment reduce any additional stress the upcoming separation may cause. Reach out to your service member’s command Family Readiness Officer, Key Spouse, or Ombudsman to get details specific to your installation.

NAF employment is considered federal employment. It is, however, different from federal civil service employment because the monies used to pay the salaries of NAF employees come from a different source. Civil service positions are paid for by money appropriated by Congress. NAF money, on the other hand, is self-generated by Air Force clubs, bowling centers, golf courses, and other activities that use NAF employees.

In an effort to better support children of military members, Ohio Department of Education created the Ohio Network for Military Families and Veterans. This network connects families of military members to online resource information and tools.

Greene County's website for Military-Connected Youth includes any children with an immediate family member currently serving in the Armed Forces.
